Do you hear me? is the work title for a short film about an Estonian boy who went to Finland to fight with the Finnish army against the Soviet Army during the Second World War. In the beginning he is optimistic about his return to a free Estonia, but slowly the doubts creep in. He longs for his home, his family. In Estonia his mother worries about her son, about her country, whereas his sister hopes for his return.
All three wrote a diary, as there was not always someone to talk to, to share their concerns. In the film these three diaries will be interwoven. Historical footage will alternate with nature images; with nature being the silent and peaceful witness, offering comfort in times of sadness and despair.
